Riverdale, NY (October 5, 2003)-The Lady Jaspers won their second game in a row today, 2-0, against Iona College at Gaelic Park. Freshman Christine Abrams (Rockville Centre, NY) and Jess Garcia (Pueblo, CO) each tallied a goal to give Manhattan the win. Manhattan improved their overall record to 2-8-0 and 2-0-0 in the MAAC Conference, while Iona fell to an overall record of 1-8-2 and 0-1-1 in the MAAC.

The scoring began at the 16:17 mark when the Lady Jasper's Suzanne Graham (Rockville Centre, NY) gave a long leading pass to Garcia poised and ready to the left of the goal. Garcia landed a shot clear over Iona's goalkeeper Ticiana DiCarlo giving the Lady Jaspers a 1-0 lead. Despite the continuous pressure Manhattan thrust upon the Gael's defense the first half ended without any further goals.

With 17:82 minutes left to play in regulation Abrams scored her first goal of the season with a pass from Garcia in the 18 yard box. Abrams' goal put the Lady Jaspers up 2-0.

Jeanne Marie Gilbert (Northport, NY) earned her second consecutive shutout with six saves. DiCarlo also recorded six saves for the day.
