Loudonville, NY (October 31, 2003) - Manhattan lost to Siena during a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match this afternoon at Siena Field in Loudonville, NY Siena's Erin DeMatteo scored a hat trick to lead the Saints to their 3-1 victory. The Jaspers fall to 5-12-0 on the season and 5-3-0 in MAAC play. The Saints are now 8-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference.
DeMatteo netted the first goal of the afternoon just 12 minutes into the first half on a cross by teammate Kristen Turner. DeMatteo gave her team a two-goal lead a little under ten minutes later as Turner gave a through ball to Vicki Fenley who set DeMatteo up for the tally. About five minutes later Lady Jasper Jess Garcia closed the gap by scoring the only Manhattan goal the assists went to Vanessa DiPaolo and Lauren Zduncyk. The two teams entered half time with a 2-1 score in favor of Siena.
DeMatteo continued her scoring mission in the second half sealing the victory with a goal at the 71:58 minute mark. Turner again assisted on the goal, this time with help from classmate Megan Helf. The Saints outshot the Jaspers 23-7.
Jeanne Marie Gilbert stopped eight shots for Manhattan while Noel Cox made two saves in the cage for Siena.
The Lady Jaspers will enter their final game of the regular season on Sunday, November 2nd when they travel to Marist College for a MAAC conference game. Game-time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
