Niagara University, NY (October 26, 2003)- The Niagara University Purple Eagles scored two first half goals to defeat Manhattan College, 2-0, today at Niagara University. Manhattan falls to 3-10-2, 2-3-2 MAAC, while Niagara improves to 3-10-2, 3-3-1 MAAC. The goals by Niagara ended a stretch of 255:06 between goals allowed by Manhattan goalkeeper Collin Leaver.
The Purple Eagles opened the scoring at the 21:11 mark, when Mark Spooner scored off a free kick from 30 yards out. Niagara's Simon Adair followed a little over six minutes later, when he followed up a shot by Ricky Fleck to give the Purple Eagles the 2-0 lead.
Niagara out shot Manhattan 8-1 in the first half and 17-5 overall. Brian Lundy led the Jaspers with two shots.
Collin Leaver made five saves for Manhattan, while Dan O'Shea stopped all four shots he faced for Niagara.
Manhattan returns to action on Friday, October 31, when the Jaspers host Siena in a MAAC match slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
