BALTIMORE, MD (October 17, 2003) - Manhattan lost today to Loyola (MD) at Loyola's Curley Field. The Greyhounds improved to 6-7-1 overall and undefeated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at 4-0-1. The Lady Jaspers fell to 3-10 overall and took their first MAAC loss for a 3-1 record.
Greyhound's Carolyn Kennington scored late in the second half at 83:42. Off a quick past from teammate Courtney Arikian, dead-center in front of goal, Kennington just tapped the ball past Manhattan keeper Jeanne Marie Gilbert(Northport, NY) for the easy score.
Loyola outshot Manhattan, 15-2 overall and the Greyhound defense didn't allow the Lady Jaspers a singe attempt in the first period of play. Sophomore Kate Gilfillan made one save in her second start this week while Gilbert stopped six Loyola attempts for Manhattan.
Manhattan plays again on Sunday, October 19 when they travel to Lawrenceville, NJ to play Rider in another MAAC conference game at 1:00pm.
