Riverdale, NY (October 17, 2003)- The Manhattan women's cross country team snatched first place at the Manhattan/Iona Invitational, while Iona finished first for the men at Van Cortlandt Park. Iona's Michelle Gallagher set the pace coming in first (13:37.1) for the women. The Men's top finisher was Iona's Adam Hortian who finished the race with a time of 15:21.2. Iona dominated the meet having six runners in the top seven.
Manhattan's top woman runner was Therese Forsberg. She finished second running the 3800m in 13:54.6. On the men's side,
Tyler Raymond finished second for Manhattan with a time of 15:23.7.
Matt Reilly was the next male runner to come in for Manhattan after Raymond. Reilly finished eleventh (15:58.2). Teammate Doug Becht grabbed the nineteenth spot with a time of 16:09.5.
Brendan Smith (16:41.2) and Dan Kohler (16:42.9) were neck and neck placing 25th and 26th.
Manhattan had six runners come in the top-10. These women were Forsberg, Marisa Rego (14:24.9), Lisa Naucler (14:31.2), Lisa Modin (14:46.4), Michelle Jones (14:52.1), and Rachel McGee (14:54.7).
Manhattan competes again on Friday, October 31 where they will run in the MAAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
