Telford, PA (October 14, 2003)- The Manhattan golf team competed in the Don Mershon Classic this past weekend at the Indian Valley CC. Senior co-captain
Marty Tobias paced the Jaspers with a two-day score of 166.
Tobias (84-82-166) placed in a tie for 48th overall.
Jay Wiederlight, who posted an 83 on the first day of competition, withdrew due to injury on the second day, and that, combined with an injury to
Patrick Rizzotti that also caused him to be unable to complete the tournament, left the Jaspers with only three golfers that finished the course, thus keeping the team from compiling a score.
Danny Sirico placed in a tie for 68th with a two-day total of 173 (81-92), while
George Calvi (90-90-180) placed 74th.
Lehigh, the host school, won the tournament with a score of 618, defeating Siena in a playoff. Fordham (625), Drexel (626), and Delaware (631) rounded out the top-five schools.
