Former Manhattan College and University of Kentucky standout Heshimu Evans is in his first year with the Jaspers as the program’s Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach following a lengthy professional career.

Evans played overseas for 15 years highlighted by winning five championships in Portugal and represented the country as a member of the National Team in 2010.

He began his successful professional career after averaging over 11 points per game for Kentucky as a senior in 1998-1999 season while serving as a team captain for the Wildcats. In his first season in Lexington, Evans served as a key reserve for a Kentucky squad that won 1998 NCAA Championship.

The Bronx native began his collegiate career in Riverdale and was named as the 1995 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year while helping Manhattan upset Oklahoma in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. He followed that up by earning First Team All-MAAC honors as a sophomore.

Evans graduated from Kentucky with a degree in social work after attending Evander Childs High School as well as at Trinity-Pawling School. While at Trinity-Pawling, he was named the WNEPS3A Class 3 Player Of The Year while leading the squad to a 22-0 record.
