Frank Darby is in his third year as the head coach of the Manhattan College Golf program.
Last year, he helped guide the Jaspers to a third place finish at the 2017 MAAC Men's Golf Championship with Connor O'Rourke earning All-MAAC honors.
In his first season, Manhattan registered the highest finish in program history, placing second at the 2016 MAAC Men's Golf Championship. Ryan Lynch also took second under his guidance.
Darby arrives in Riverdale after spending 20 seasons as the head coach at St. John’s University. During his time in Jamaica, he led the Red Storm to six NCAA Regional appearances while overseeing the development of 27 All Big-East selections, including 2011 PGA Championship winner and Ryder Cup member Keegan Bradley.
In his last season at St. John’s in 2013-2014, Darby guided St. John’s to its first Big East Championship since 1989 with Ryan McCormick winning the individual championship. McCormick along with Dylan Crowley would go on to earn All-America honors with Darby being named the Big East Coach of the Year.
Over his 20-years in Jamaica, Darby has guided St. John’s to 35 individual and 25 team championships while 80 of his student-athletes earned Big East All-Academic accolades, including 11 that were selected as Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Academic All-Americans.
A 29-year member of the PGA of America, Darby is the Tournament Operations Director for the Metropolitan Section of the PGA, which entails planning, organizing and implementing 100 golf events in a six-month period. He also served as the head golf professional at Nissequoque Golf Club for 11 years and at the Colonial Springs Golf Club for two years.
He also served as the President of the Big East Golf Coaches Association and was a member of the NCAA East Region Advisory Committee in 2008.
Darby resides with his wife Nancy and daughter Charlotte in Stratford, CT.
